The f=ma was strong with this race!
So let me start by saying this was such a momentous event for me. It was two years to the date (Jan. 18) that I first heard about #Run3rd. It was a simple tweet from @runDisney, but I was hooked! @SeanAstin was sharing about #run3rd - and I loved the idea. So, celebrating my 2 year #Run3rd-iversary with some great folks was awesome! Meetups, hugs, birthdays, and more-such an amazing group of folks who are miles away, but you'd never even know it...it's like we've known each other forever!

I admit it. I am a Star Wars geek. Yes, I grew up on it, but it's more the memories of the countless hours that I spent watching Star Wars with my son...over and over and over. It's the hours spent building the Lego Death Star, the Sail Barge, and others...but most importantly the hours spent enjoying those moments! It was great seeing all the excitement...all the costumes...and yes, I fully admit that I went a little crazy on my 10k running version of Padme! (I think even the 15 year old *might* have thought it was semi-cool...even if there was an eye roll involved).
Even more exciting that the race, was the fact that my nonprofit was selected as an official RunDisney charity group for this event. We had around 60 people running and raising funds for our "Em'Pi're Gives Back" campaign and to date have raised almost $20,000 for math & science professional development programs. It was such fun meeting up with them and celebrating their accomplishments! Each person raised a minimum of $314 (it's all about "pi") and we had a blast cheering them on...and hearing their cheers!
All in all it was a great race weekend. So much energy and excitement and I can't wait for the next one!
